4. Use in the learning tool

The selected pinyin identifies the recording. Available whole words play their
complete recording. Other supported phrases play explicitly labeled separate
syllables. This is not a full connected-speech engine; tone sandhi and contextual
pronunciation may differ from isolated syllables. Missing recordings are shown
as unavailable. A missing neutral tone is never replaced by tone 1 or another
tone. Raw user-entered phrases without a dictionary reading are not guessed.

Playback is started only by the learner. The slow button changes playback speed
to 0.75x with pitch preservation requested; the stored source audio is unchanged.
No recording, microphone access, speech recognition, or learner-audio upload is
performed. Audio files are served from the same website.

The authors and source projects do not endorse this website. No claim of review
by the centre's teachers is made. These audio files retain the licenses above.
Any redistribution or adaptation of the CC BY-SA recordings must preserve the
required attribution and the applicable ShareAlike terms.
